Bhang and Tobacco banned, Ambubachi Mela, Kamakhya

The government has asked police and intelligence personnel and NGO workers — more than 5,000 of them have been roped in — to keep an eye on the sale of bhang and tobacco. 

This is how a stupid rumor may get you killed


Tezpur, Assam: Five persons were arrested recently on charges of lynching three people in Sonitpur district of Assam on Wednesday, the local police sources said.

These 5 people were arrested in connection with the case in which 3 persons were beaten to death at Balishiha village who were suspected to be the 'naked men' following rumors that some 'naked men' were roaming in the area with the motive to rape women. 

The five accused have been identified as Nitu Borah, Sunil Borah, Mridul Saikia, Pawan Bhumij and Lakhmiram Boro acoording to a source.  


Ashutosh Das and Md Jalil of Dhekiajuli and Prabin Bhawal of Rangapara were on their way from Dhekiajuli to Tezpur in a vehicle when the mob armed with sticks and lethal weapons intercepted them at Balishiha and attacked them suspecting them to be the 'naked men', the sources said, adding, the three died on the spot.

This kind of stupidity may prove to be Too Costly.
