Yesterday Shikhar Dhawan’s century helped team India to win the opening match in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy against South Africa at Cardiff Wales Stadium.

Here are some facts behind Shikhar Dhawan’s century-

*Shikhar Dhwan is only the third Indian to score both his maiden test and ODI 100s in less than 100 balls after K Srikkanth and MS Dhoni.

*Dhawan’s century today is the first by an India in Champions Trophy after Saurav Ganguly in 2002 at Colombo.

*Shikhar Dhawan’s 114 is now the highest individual ODI score at Cardiff.

*Shikhar Dhawan becomes the only left-hander since January 2012 to score an ODI ton against South Africa.

*This is the first century stand for the opening wicket for India outside Asia since March 2009.
